MURMURES DE PIERRES

Found between the Orb and Hérault rivers, vineyards are the main feature of the landscape around a series of ancient villages which bear the stamp of the Roman civilization, Christianity and wine-making. Take a stroll around the “circulades” which demonstrate medieval defence techniques. Set off on a voyage of discovery and visit “mazets”, or wine-growers’ homes, “follies” and “châteaux pinardiers”. These magnificent 19th century artefacts were built by wealthy wine-growers. This is of course a destination renowned for its love of rugby and festive atmosphere, with the Béziers Feria, but above all, the area is recognized for its one thousand year history of viticulture.
With Magalas as a starting point, this circuit is brimming with sightseeing opportunities, visits of cooperative and private wine-cellars and discovery of the Languedoc appellation wines, the Coteaux d’Ensérune IGP, Coteaux de Béziers and Pays d’Hérault.
