Origine du nom : viendrait du culte chrétien de Saint Nazaire et du nom gallo-romain du territoire « Lazareto » transformé avec le temps en Ladarez

La plus ancienne trace écrite du château date de 1105. On voit aujourd’hui un corps de logis à cour centrale, une tour carrée, une fenêtre du gothique flamboyant et une fenêtre géminée. Cet imposant château était un des castra wisigoths dressés face à l’ennemi franc. Par la suite, il était un passage obligé vers la montagne et possédait un octroi.
