Classification and labels

Classification of furnished accommodation

By having their accommodation classified, owners commit to a quality approach.

The classification covers a range from 1* to 5*. The number of stars corresponds to the level of comfort achieved. It is a reliable indicator that is recognised nationally and internationally.

The advantages of classification :
- A 71% tax allowance (instead of 50% for unclassified furnished accommodation)

- A means of providing information about the quality of the accommodation, the services offered and the layout

- A prerequisite for membership of the Agence Nationale des Chèques Vacances (National Holiday Vouchers Agency)

- The opportunity to be listed by tourism partners (tourist offices, Comité Départemental du Tourisme)

- An opportunity to stand out from the competition.

The classification procedure :

The classification is obtained after a visit by an accredited or approved body. The list can be consulted at www.classement.atout-france.fr

Owners must submit their classification application to the body of their choice. Before doing so, they must obtain the classification application from the organisation and define the number of stars they wish to obtain, using the classification table provided.

Following the inspection body's visit, a visit certificate is issued within a maximum of one month. This includes

The inspection report
The inspection grid completed by the assessment body
The classification decision
The owner has 15 days from receipt of the inspection certificate to refuse the proposed classification. If the owner does not refuse, the classification is acquired.

The classification of a furnished accommodation is voluntary on the part of the owner, and is valid for a period of 5 years.

Bed and breakfast standards

The Chambre d'hôtes reference® scheme, set up by Offices de Tourisme de France, is designed to contribute to the qualification of tourist accommodation and to enable B&Bs to guarantee the quality of their services to their customers.

Unlike labels and classifications, Chambre d'hôtes référence® does not establish a scale of value but a minimum guarantee of quality.

Labelling

Labelling is another way of achieving quality through membership of a brand.

In addition to the criteria assessed to establish a level of comfort, these brands represent commercial opportunities for owners who choose them.

The Clévacances and Gîtes de France departmental offices provide a range of services:

The Vignobles & Découvertes label

Launched in 2009, this label aims to promote vineyard and wine tourism. It is awarded for a period of 3 years by Atout France, on the recommendation of the Conseil Supérieur de l'Oenotourisme, to a wine tourism destination (unlike other labels, which are awarded to individual professionals).

The destination offers a complete range of complementary tourist products for short stays, making it easier for customers to organise their stay and directing them to quality services. (Accommodation, restaurants, cellar tours and tastings, museums, events, etc.).

If you are a professional and would like to join our Vignobles et Découvertes label, you should know that the Vignobles et Découvertes label is awarded to a destination and its ambassadors for 3 years. It is possible to join the local network during the year.
