Pouzolles
The name Pouzolles was first mentioned in the early 11th century, although there are numerous references to the Roman occupation.
The village, once renowned for its brandies and draperies, is surrounded by 7 hills separated by a river, the Thongue. It is topped by the two monumental towers of its 15th-century château. From here, the view stretches over the red earth, the garrigue and a beautiful alluvial plain that produces an excellent wine. Village life is kept remarkably lively by a team of volunteers who will be delighted to welcome you to their many associations throughout the year.
Origin of the name: from podoli, oil well (the proximity of the oil spring in Gabian suggests that there must have been others in Pouzolles).
