Murviel-lès-Béziers
Origin of the name: The name of the village comes from the Latin plural muri vetuli, from the Occitan mur "surrounding wall", accompanied by the adjective vièlh "old".
Standing on a pech, the castle dominates the Orb plain. This imposing lookout post flourished over the centuries. Its architectural complexity shows that it has been altered, rebuilt and enlarged several times since the 11th century. The Marquises of Murviel were members of the Estates of Languedoc until the French Revolution.
