The Landeyran cliffs

Le Landeyran is a cliff to the north of Béziers in the Hérault department. This climbing site has the particularity of being made of Quartzite, which makes it a little different from the other cliffs in the region. What's more, the cliff faces north, so you can climb most of the day in the shade. There are just over fifty routes ranging from 3 to 7c, spread over two sectors. The equipment is very good, so beginners are welcome. The wall is up to 40 metres high, so you can abseil in the middle of the route.

Vailhan

This climbing site is ideal for beginners and children.

Two sectors: a small one at the top (2 routes in 4, 2 routes in 5; 2 moulinettes), and a larger one at the bottom.
The foot of the routes are under the trees, in the shade.
8 routes in 4, 6 routes in 5, 8 routes in 6.
A lot of the easy routes are on slabs. From route 6 onwards, there is more variety, with large cracks or overhangs.

Access by road:
From Roujan (to the S), take the D125. Go past the water treatment plant at the entrance to the village, leaving the entrance to the village on your right. Drive 300 m and park on the right of the road, on a median strip some 30 m in diameter.

Access on foot:
On foot: follow the road for 50 m, cross the stream on a series of concrete bollards, continue along the path for 100 m before taking another on your left. The cliff is reached in 5 minutes.

Environment:
In the shade until around 3pm in summer.

Rock :
Only slab, but very varied.

Equipment :
Very good.
A good half of the routes can be done in 2 pitches. The belays at the top are not linked, so you'll need to bring something to link the points.

Access on foot:
From Béziers head towards Murviel-lès-Béziers. Then follow the signs for Causses-et-Veyran, go past it for 2 km and at the bridge head for Saint Nazaire-de-Ladarez. After a few hundred metres, the first rocks appear on the right.
